Our 21st Annual Winning Futures Golf Classic raised more than $155,000 to support our new Workforce Prep program.

It was a beautiful day for golfing on Monday, September 9, 2019, at the historic Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion, MI. Over 240 people attended the 21st Annual Winning Futures Golf Classic where they enjoyed the great weather and opportunities to golf and network with automotive industry leaders. This year’s event was presented by Gentherm and Leggett and Platt, and raised over $155,000 dollars to support students in our new four-year Workforce Prep program.

Activities for the day included a delicious breakfast followed by 18 holes of golf on two courses and a grilled lunch. Golfers played for closest-to-the-pin, longest drive, and hole-in-one prizes including a two-year lease on Chevrolet Blazer or Chevrolet Camaro.

As golfers came in off the course, they headed into the ballroom where a savory dinner was waiting for them. As the room filled with laughter and smiles, golfers entered tickets for a prize raffle that included a Callaway Golf X Series driver, a Shinola watch, an M1 Concourse driving experience, tickets for a suite at a Detroit Tiger’s game, and a 55” 4K Smart TV. Winning Futures President and CEO, Kristina Marshall, gave remarks during dinner and announced golf winners.

“Over the course of my career, it’s been important to me to give back to the community,” said Mindi Fynke, president and CEO of Employee Health Insurance Management (EHIM). “Winning Futures is preparing young people across Metro Detroit for their future careers and setting them up for success. Our team at EHIM was happy to support such a great organization at their Golf Classic.”

This year, 11th grade students at Harper Woods and Warren Mott High Schools enter the second year of our experiential, structured, and evidence-based Workforce Prep program where they will begin developing a strategic career plan with assistance from career coaches. Students will participate in company rotations at Lear Corporation and Magna and get hand-on work experience at our Job Experience Fair.
