We are pleased to welcome Angela D. Henderson, Founder and Principal Advisor of Henderson Executive Advisors, to our Board of Directors.
An accomplished enterprise executive, advisor, coach, and board leader, Angela brings nearly three decades of experience across the automotive and energy industries. She also brings something deeply personal to her new role – firsthand knowledge of the difference caring adults can make in helping a young person see and achieve a bigger future.
“Growing up in Highland Park, I had teachers and other adults who took an interest in my success and helped fill gaps my parents couldn’t fill,” Angela said. “Their guidance made all the difference in the woman I am today. I’m energized by the opportunity to give back and provide that same support, inspiration, and encouragement to young people through Winning Futures.”
As a young mother, Angela knew she wanted to finish school and attend college but did not have a clear picture of what her future could become. Adults who encouraged her, exposed her to new possibilities, and invested in her development helped turn those aspirations into reality.
“Angela understands our mission from both a personal and professional perspective,” said President and CEO Kris Marshall. “She knows what it means for a young person to have someone believe in them, help them see possibilities, and show them how to move forward. Combine that with her tremendous leadership experience, strategic thinking, and ability to build relationships, and she will be an incredible asset to our Board and the students we serve.”
Professionally, Angela has built a career around turning strategy into results while developing the people and cultures needed to sustain them. She spent 27 years with Ford Motor Company, advancing through leadership roles in engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain, global strategy, organizational transformation, and leadership development, with responsibilities spanning North America, Europe, Mexico, and Brazil.
Most recently, Angela served as the first Vice President of Supply Chain at Consumers Energy, leading a 111-person organization responsible for $3.2 billion in enterprise spend and more than $300 million in inventory. In 2025, she founded Henderson Executive Advisors, where she helps executives and organizations strengthen leadership, improve operating systems, and turn strategy into measurable results.
Angela also brings extensive board and community leadership experience, including roles with the Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation, Great Lakes Women’s Business Council, Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Marygrove College.
A self-described “humanity-first leader,” Angela is passionate about coaching and mentoring others. As a member of our Board, she will contribute expertise in strategy and execution, governance, operational efficiency, financial stewardship, relationship building, and talent development.
“I want young people to understand that where they begin does not have to determine where they finish,” Angela said. “Sometimes it takes just one person to expose you to a possibility you hadn’t considered or help you see something in yourself that you couldn’t yet see.”
Angela earned an MBA from Lawrence Technological University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Marygrove College. Born in Detroit and educated in Highland Park, she brings what she describes as “Detroit grit and global insight” to her work and service.
