Winning Futures Class of 2001
While a student at Warren Mott High School, Tom had a series of surgeries that limited his mobility and affected his motivation. With help from his Winning Futures mentor, Tom learned about goal setting, overcoming adversity, and the importance of maintaining a positive attitude. He graduated first in his high school class and was a first-generation student at Liberty University where he received a bachelor’s degree in math. After several years of teaching high school math and Spanish, Tom opened a private tutoring company which he currently manages, using the skills and lessons he learned through Winning Futures to help his students achieve success.
“I am most proud of my ability to take bold risks rooted in confidence,” said Tom. “Knowing what I’m capable of helps me continue to achieve my dreams.”
