A personal note from Kristina Marshall, President and CEO, Winning Futures:
Fifteen years ago, Scott Rice, president and COO of Powerlink Healthcare Support Services, joined our Board of Directors after attending our golf outing and visiting a Workforce Prep mentoring session. Words cannot describe how grateful I am that he led our board for the last 11 years. As Board Chair, Scott grew our board’s fundraising total from $100,000 per year to $1,000,0000 a year! The resources and guidance the board provided also helped us transform from a one-year to a seven-year program. The impact on our students has been phenomenal!
This winter, Scott announced it was time to elect a new board chair. “I am so proud of what we have accomplished together,” said Scott. “I feel so blessed to have worked with such fine people on our board and staff.”
Scott recommended Matt Joshua, formerly of General Motors and owner of E-MAD LLC, to serve as our next board chair. “I know that Matt is an amazing leader and that he will carry the board to the next level.” The board unanimously approved!
In 2017, Matt learned about us when our board vice-chair, Frank Orsini, executive vice president and president, seating at Lear Corporation, asked him to chair our annual gala fundraiser Corks & Forks. That year, because of Matt’s enthusiasm and passion to empower young people, we raised $290,000 ($225,000 more than the previous year)! Shortly after that, Matt joined our board and then our governing board.
Scott has been an amazing mentor, coach, and friend to me over the last 15 years. He has been there through wonderful times and tough times. I am eternally thankful to have him in my life and for the impact he has made on our students.
I am also excited to have Matt now leading our board as the fifth chair in the history of Winning Futures. Matt’s innovation and passion for our mission will push us to even greater success. I am honored to lead Winning Futures with him!
On behalf of the board, staff, volunteers, partners, and students, thank you Scott for your outstanding commitment and support, and welcome Matt – I look forward to blazing new trails with you and taking our program to even higher levels.
