Our 2024 Golf Social at Topgolf was a “hole-in-one” kind of success!

We held our first ever Golf Social on September 25, 2024, at Topgolf in Auburn Hills. Replacing our traditional golf outing of years past, the Golf Social at Topgolf provided much more opportunities for guests of all golf skill levels to participate, have fun, and network with senior business executives. With help from our partners and sponsors, we raised over $150,000 in support of Metro Detroit high school and college students in our Workforce Prep program.

We owe a big amount of thanks to this year’s event co-chairs, Brandon Leslie, vice president – industrial at Barton Malow, Frank Orsini, executive vice president of seating at Lear Corporation, and Tony Tomczak, president of Tomczak Enterprises, LLC. We also owe thanks to our program presenting sponsor, Lear, and event sponsors Barton Malow, Envita Solutions, Pro Leasing Services, and Stellantis.

The event started out with a VIP reception hosted by Lear. Then golfers and guests headed to their bays for some practice golf and networking. A Topgolf Tournament was held and won by Wieland Rolled Products – congratulations! Axalta & Hour Magazine took second followed by Woodbridge who took third.

Guests enjoyed a Mexican fiesta-style dinner and purchased raffle prize tickets for a chance to win outstanding prizes that included everything from a Lovesac (enormous and exceptionally comfy bean bag chair) and tailored business suit to the latest and greatest electronic gadgets and topnotch tickets to local sporting events. A special thanks goes out to our board member, Ruomu Hu, general manager and vice president of embedded audio business unit at Harman International, who secured donated JBL Bluetooth speakers that were given out as door prizes.

We are very pleased and grateful to the many people, organizations, and companies that believe in our mission and support our students. Thanks to all who helped make this first-ever event a resounding success!

Don’t look now, but our annual Corks & Forks gala is only a few months away. This year’s event will be held on March 8, 2025, at the luxurious Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Featuring a wine tasting reception, silent auction filled with cool stuff, and a gourmet dinner, this event sells out every year. Want to get in on the action?
