We are pleased to announce that Marcelo Conti, executive director of Interior, Exterior and Thermal, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain at General Motors, has joined our Board of Directors.

“I have been passionate about Winning Futures since I first heard of its mission to help local Detroit youth. As someone who was fortunate enough to have great mentors to help me navigate through a challenging educational and professional environment growing up in Brazil, the cause just resonates with me,” said Marcelo.

Marcelo joined GM in October 2014 as a purchasing director and held roles in key areas such as transmissions, chassis and program purchasing before being promoted to his current role as executive director for GM’s Global Purchasing & Supply Chain organization in June of 2021.

He began his career in 1985 as a banker in his native Brazil. His most recent roles prior to GM include vice president of purchasing & supply chain at Rolls-Royce and vice president and chief procurement officer at NetJets in Columbus, OH.

Marcelo also volunteers as co-chair of General Motors’ Latino Network, one of the largest employee resource groups in the company. In addition, he sits in the advisory board of Howard University’s supply chain management discipline.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have Marcelo join our board,” said Kristina Marshall, our president and CEO. “He has a keen understanding of the significant challenges many students face as they look to the future and pursue their dreams. His knowledge and skills will undoubtedly help us better support our students.”
