Winning Futures scholarship interviews are taking place now through Thursday, April 19. During the interviews, 28 students who submitted scholarship essays meet with a panel of judges comprised of Winning Futures’ alumni and tri-county business representatives. Judges then select 10 students who will each receive a $2,000 scholarship.
“You really can see the effects of what Winning Futures teaches these young people in the way they sit and shake hands to the way they answer questions,” said scholarship judge Myrle Hughes of Pierburg GmbH about the students he has interviewed. “It’s thrilling to see their passions for life and success come pouring out and way they use Winning Futures’ goal setting disciplines to harness them.”
This is the 18th year Winning Futures has awarded scholarships to its students. In total, more than $1.7 million has been gifted since the program’s founding in 1994.
Award recipients will be announced Monday, May 21 at a ceremony sponsored by Lusk and Albertson at the UAW Region 1 headquarters in Warren, Michigan.
