Angelica Powe, Student, Michigan State University,
Winning Futures Class of 2016

While a senior at Cass Technical High School, Angelica lost her dad and desperately needed help staying motivated and focused on her schoolwork. Angelica’s mentor, Andrea Spade, division operations manager at Kelly Services, gave Angelica constant encouragement, helping her keep a positive attitude, and utilized her network to help Angelica’s mom enter back into the workforce. Angelica and Andrea have a great relationship. Now a student at Michigan State University studying finance, Angelica often goes to Andrea for life and career advice. Angelica is on track to graduate in December, 2019, and has a financial analyst job lined up for August, 2020, at Dell Technologies.

“Winning Futures helped me get familiar with networking and learn how to accept help,” said Angelica. “When I had my internship at Dell, I was one of the few interns comfortable making connections and putting myself out there. Having this skill helped me figure out my career path and land a great job.”
