About Winning Futures
We are a nationally recognized leader in helping students achieve their goals and make a positive impact in their families, communities, and workplaces. Our evidence-based Mentoring Program guides Metro Detroit students through a seven-year journey, starting in 10th grade and continuing through up to four years of college, trade school, or other post-secondary education. Students work with volunteer career mentors from the local business community who attend organized one-hour sessions with students, and provide coaching, encouragement, and real-world advice. Together, they explore career options, build essential life and job-readiness skills, participate in workshops, attend college and career tours, and create personalized academic and career plans. Support doesn’t stop there—scholarships and emergency financial assistance is also available to help our continuing education students stay on track, graduate, and get job. A University of Michigan study found that our program has a statistically significant and equitable impact, benefiting students of all races, income levels, and genders. Since 1994, we have worked with 50,500 students and awarded $2.2 million in scholarships.
Our Mission
We empower students aged 14 to 23 to achieve the life they dream of through our seven-year Workforce Prep Mentoring Program.

Our alumni are thriving adults who find fulfillment, stability, and opportunities for growth in their careers. They contribute positively to their families, communities, and workplaces. Many give back by mentoring Winning Futures students, working with our partners and sponsors, and making a meaningful impact in the community.
