Location: Troy, MI (After completing your training and demonstrating success working at home, work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the office, then choose to work at home or the office on Tuesday and Friday.)

Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday

Join the Winning Futures team and help us prepare our college students for success! This position is responsible for case management with our mentors and students in the College Success Mentoring Program (virtual mentoring for our alumni who are now in trade school or college) by calling/texting students and mentors to check-in monthly, providing support to the matches, recruiting/retaining students, and helping at our monthly workshops at our high schools in Detroit, Harper Woods, Pontiac, and Warren.

The program includes in-class mentoring, life skills development, goal setting, job readiness training, and career exploration. Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 60-70 young adults (ages 18-24) and their mentors to foster healthy, positive mentoring relationships.
  • Build meaningful connections with monthly outreach through various communication channels, including phone calls, text messages, and emails.
  • Engage in strengths-based conversations to inspire confidence, offer advice, and encourage participants to achieve their goals.
  • Identify and address concerns regarding the safety and well-being of mentees and their mentoring relationships. Report serious issues, provide guidance for navigating challenges, and connect participants with appropriate resources.
  • Review monthly mentor and student online forms and respond to requests and issues.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records in our online system for mentors and students.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new mentors and mentees, participant in recruitment, orientations, retention efforts, survey and data collection, and special projects as required.
  • Interact with high school students onsite to support workshops; substitute as a mentor or classroom assistant when someone is absent.
  • Host adult guests at our high school program sessions.
  • Complete clerical tasks, including simple data tracking in our CRM/Excel, mail merge, mailings, and filing.
  • Interview potential mentors and complete reference calls.
  • Provide support for our scholarship program.
  • Give input on program curriculum and design.
  • Update and maintain lists of support services for our students that are available at or near the schools they attend.
  • Support data collection or clean-up for National Clearing House submissions.
  • Learn about FAFSA, the financial aid process, and reviewing financial aid award letters and contracts.
  • Make social media posts for CSM related activities and announcements.
  • Learn how to process College Support Fund requests to be on back-up for the manager.

Education and experience: This position requires completion of an associate degree or higher, along with 2 years of experience working/volunteering with young adults and volunteers. Familiarity with student support, college access, or college retention initiatives preferred, but not required.
