Terrence Smith - Program Facilitator-In-Training
Terrence is a hardworking military veteran whose background is rooted in discipline, leadership, and youth development. As a Program Facilitator-In-Training, His focus is on mentoring students who are in our Year 1 (10th grade) Workforce Prep Mentoring Program.
Terrence brings six years of experience in education along with structure and discipline developed during his eight years of service in the United States Marine Corps. Prior to joining our team, he served as a mentor across eleven schools throughout Detroit and gained valuable leadership experience as a Dean of Students. His combination of education, mentorship, and military experience has prepared him well to lead and help our students grow.
"What others call failure, I call the process of elimination," Terrence says. "We'll find something that works and we won't stop until we do." That philosophy reflects his commitment to helping young people improve their confidence and willingness to keep moving forward.
Born and raised on the east side of Detroit, Terrence attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and holds a bachelor's degree in business management. His short-term goal is to earn a master's degree within the next two years. Outside of work, he enjoys sports, working out, spending quality time with his wife and children, and large amounts of food. His long-term goal is to travel to at least ten different countries with his family.
