Sarah Wesolek-Greenson
Sarah is a public health professional who has worked in Metro Detroit for the last eight years. She joined our team in March of 2023. As grant writer, Sarah researches new funding opportunities and translates the life-changing work of our programs into compelling narratives that grantors want to fund. She then ensures that we can track and evaluate student outcomes effectively to show just how successful our programs are.
Sarah started her career at the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, where she delivered health promotion programs in elementary schools and early childhood settings. She moved on to coordinate the evaluation of these programs, including a five-year federally funded Social Innovation Fund research study to enhance one program’s evidence base. Finally, she settled into grant management and writing, overseeing applications, reports, and deliverables. Sarah utilizes all these experiences when it comes to grant writing—she knows that a strong knowledge of the evidence base and literature, programs and their design, and how they all come together out in the field play important roles in crafting captivating grant applications.
“I think of all the mentors in my life and the pivotal roles they have played,” said Sarah. “I have already seen how Winning Futures plays such a crucial role in students’ lives—these mentorship relationships make all the difference when it comes to success in post-secondary education.”
Sarah grew up in Ann Arbor and graduated from the University of Colorado where she studied English literature and geological sciences. She earned her Master of Public Health Degree in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan. Sarah loves to spend time with her husband and son, bike to local breweries, play volleyball, and attend live sporting events.
