Scholarship Judging

Since 1994, we have awarded more than $1.9 million in scholarships to our students. As part of the annual selection process, local business professionals serve as essay reviewers or interview evaluators.

  • Essay reviewing occurs February 16 and involves reading and evaluating 10-15 applicant essays for three hours at our office in Warren. Judges will be socially distant from each other. Click here to sign up.
  • Interview evaluators participate in 5-15 online interviews of student applicants and provide their feedback to the selection team. Multiple interviews are grouped together for two to three hours on a set day in March or April. Click here to sign up.

Our 2022 event will be held on March 12 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Volunteers will start at 5 p.m. and end at approximately 8 p.m. Click here to sign up.

Mentoring

Mentoring is safe, fun, and impactful! Our mentors come from the local business community. With training and ongoing support, they meet with students weekly, online or in person, from November through May, and participate in fun activities that support our program’s curriculum. Depending on COVID safety measures and school policy, up to eight of these 16 sessions might occur in school and in person. All remaining sessions are virtual. Learn more!
