Kenton Wise – AmeriCorps Vista Member

Kenton joined our team through the AmeriCorps Vista program in August of 2019. As a member of the operations team Kenton assists with organizing events including our Golf Classic, Corks & Forks, and Awards Celebration. A recent college graduate, Kenton hopes to make a positive impact for the students we serve while learning about the nonprofit industry.

Kenton has been volunteering and working in the service industry since he was in high school. He was one of the founding members and treasurer of the Walled Lake Northern High School Gaming Club and worked with the club for two years providing an all-inclusive message and environment.

“I hope that my contribution to the team can make a difference and help change lives,” said Kenton. “One quote that helps me keep moving is by the Chinese philosopher, Laozi. He said, ‘Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.’”

Kenton was born in Seoul South Korea but grew up in Commerce Township Michigan. He went to Central Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor of the Arts in History with a concentration in East Asian Studies. An avid reader, Kenton likes to learn about interesting and often forgotten parts of world history. He also enjoys cooking and trying a variety of recipes from many different cultures.
